The Art of Changing the Brain, J.E. Zull - Without realizing it I have really tried to work toward the picture I created after reading the quote presented by Lao Tzu "A leader is best when we hardly know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, his followers will say, "We did this ourselves" (221). Of course, in my less than eloquent way I've translated that to saying to students "I want us to get to the point where you say, "Hey, Sherwin, we've got this. Will you be quiet?"
Made to Stick, Heath & Heath - Do you have the GNAC for mathematics? I love it and it drives my colleagues crazy: it must be sticky! I kept writing down: why can't GNAC be the CHIFF (Clever, High quality, Innovative, Friendly, Fun) idea for the department? I think this was my favorite read as evidenced by the string of ideas I put down in my spiral notebook that came from my reading...Maybe it was the SIX card playing ladies from Burlington on page 140-141? I did end my notes on this resource with a concern that I spend too much time creating these sticky ideas and don't provide enough time for students to generate their own molasses...
